Past Special Exhibits
If The Cap Fits Wear It!
Local resident Dr. Dwayne Kostura and Chris Purcell of Edmonton have loaned the Museum items from their personal collections for our Remembrance Day exhibit. Among the artifacts are recruitment posters, ration tins and mess kits along with other personal kit items. Dr. Kostura’s collection highlights trench art – – souvenir and artworks created by soldiers, often from shell casings. These were often made into decorative items such as candle holders and vases.
A Kodak Moment
Local resident, Al Elliott, loaned the museum his extensive collection of Kodak cameras and photography memorabilia. Highlights included a early photocopier and reel movie cameras.
Spring into the Woods
Local crafters and woodworkers shared their handicrafts in this special exhibit. Highlights included antique wooden duck decoys and Canadian mammal wood carvings.
Did you know that our museum is housed in the building that was Sherwood Park’s original police station? Our emergency services exhibit showcased uniforms and tools used by Strathcona County RCMP and Firefighters.
