Pharmacists: The “Pillers” of Society

2013 Spring Special Exhibit
An interesting pharmaceutical collection is currently on display.  Many items have been generously loaned by Larry Karsch of Dispensaries Ltd., Village Park Mall and the special exhibit features apothecary devices, seltzer products and Swamp Root & Cocaine remedies.  Swamp Root Elixir was invented to cure kidney and liver problems, and in the past cocaine was used in preparations for toothaches, dandruff and medicinal tonics.

Several quack medicinal products and old pain relief medications are displayed, many of which contained a very high component of alcohol!  The pharmaceutical artifacts will be on display throughout the month of May, along with several nature-based remedies.
